Is This Your Lizard?

Barcelona is perhaps one of my favorite cities... for two reasons. First, La Rambla - a tree-lined street about three-quarters of a mile long that's densely packed with tourists, street performers, restaurants, and pickpockets. It connects the city's center, Plaça de Catalunya or "Catalonia Square" in English at the north end and Port Vell (near the cruise port terminal) at the Southernmost end. The pedestrian attraction is also a green boundary between Barcelona's Gothic Quarter to the right (east) and El Raval neighborhood to the left (west).

Second, Antoni Gaudi - a son of Catalonia that's made his mark on Barcelona with his signature architecture and design that's described as organic+modernist+gothic+ornamental+natural+geometic+and very personal.

When Chris said he was going to Barcelona, I mentioned that he must find Gaudi's Lizzard (actually a salamander. Also referred to as  "el drac" (the dragon) or just Gaudi's Dragon." It's in Park Güell, a ceramic wonderland of mosaic-covered buildings, steps and sculptures in a lush park with a Gaudi museum and panoramic views of the city. It's a wonderful contrast to La Rambla in energy but just as vibrant. I'm unsure if Chris made it to Park Güell - why the hell not, really - or if he simply found the postcard - probably at the Gaudi museum in the park... but either way, yes, Chris - this is my lizard and yours too! Thanks, I got your postcard!

Get there!
