As You Do in the Maldives

"Now, why did you go to the Maldives?" I asked during my drunk dial to Yung-yi last night after three or four very tasty lychee martinis. And because it was a drunk dial, I will paraphrase her response along the lines of they were in India, and Ryan (her husband) wanted to go because the Maldives was in the area. Hmm, it seemed so much more absurd to me last night in my inebriated state than it does today. Now it's just a matter of fact. Of course, if I found myself in India, then why not go to the Maldives for four days... as you do.

Having never been to the Maldives myself, I've allowed for the picture-perfect paradise to be branded into my mind along with the legend and lore of the Maldives as a destination for the rich and famous. Wasn't it Tom Cruise that had a $42,000 a day villa with any amenity that you would need or want at the ring of a bell - personal butler or butlers, private chef, 24 hr dedicated massage therapists, yoga master, fitness trainer, not to mention made-to-order sunsets over the Indian Ocean with customizable degrees of rainbow hues and wispy cloud coverage. I think it was him.

So, the Maldives is on the list of must-go places. I'm inspired. I'm jealous. I'm at a loss for words on how much I want to walk the white sand beaches and swim in the diamond blue waters of this island nation. Back to the drunk dial - there was something about an atoll. And I remember she spelled it out for me (perhaps, because I really was that far gone). Unfortunately, I don't remember much more of the conversation after that. Ok, enough said... and oh, Yung-yi, you're one lucky bitch. But thank you very much - I got your postcard!

Get there!

You wont need that much money when ECONNOMY CLASS tourism is introduced.
