Holy Matrimony in Southwest Ireland

Someone once said that they hated the way Hollywood depicts Ireland, but I never understood that. The rolling green hills, the castles, the Blarney Stone, Leap Year... (yikes - maybe I get their point. Thank goodness I got the DVD bootleg Beijing style and didn't pay "real money" for it). Nonetheless, I would love to go to Ireland. I've always imagined myself going to have a Guinness with the friendly folk, but then getting harassed with big 'ol pats on the back by ginger haired blokes as they joke on about how I can't take the local ale all because of my rapid onset of Asian Glow. For me, it would never just be grabbin' a pint with the locals. Yes, I have serious issues.

Anyway, back to the above posty, it's from gal-pal, Yung-yi, while abroad for yet another wedding... I believe that she's gone to more weddings in exotic locations than I can shake a stick at. If she were to tally up the cost of flights and cash down the gift registry drain plus other travel incidentals for every wedding from India to Ireland, then I'm sure she could easily manage a fourth mortgage. Granted, she and Ryan use to fly for free when he was at United. Nonetheless, it's probably best that she doesn't tally it all up because it's not about the money. To celebrate a wedding abroad like that must be amazing. And for her to get that many international invites just goes to show you how international she really is!

OMG, what if she's really a not a sourcing manager for an international handset maker, but an international woman of mystery jet-setting around the world with her fingers in all sorts of geopolitical pies.

As for me, not so international, but I'm definitely down for some Irish hospitality, but I'll pass on the blood pudding thanks... If only I could score a wedding invite. Well, once I get one, I will let you know. In the meantime, Yung-yi - just wanted say thanks and to let you know I got your postcard.

Get there!
